What is the best skincare advice you’ve ever been given?

The best skincare advice I’ve been given is to wash my make-up off every night. I used to go to sleep with my face still covered in foundation and it caused me to get more breakouts than usual. Since using a cleanser to remove my makeup every night, my skin has cleared up so much!

What is your go-to Dermalogica SPF?

My go-to is the Clear Start Oil Clearing Matte Moisturiser SPF15. I use this product every single day – it’s the perfect moisturizer for my skin and is specifically designed for teenagers. It minimizes oil and shine while still moisturizing my face, and the SPF helps with breakouts as well as keeping my face sun-safe.

What do you want most from an SPF?

I  am always on the lookout for SPF products that minimize oil, rather than adding more to my face. Being a teenager I am prone to breakouts, but having a good moisturizer helps to keep them to a minimum.

What is your can’t-live-without skincare product?

I could not live without my Clear Start Breakout Clearing Emergency Spot Fix! When I can see a pimple appearing, I just apply a small amount each day and it clears up super-fast. It’s the perfect size to take in a handbag or wallet, so you can use it anywhere. It smells so good too!

    Who is your skin-piration?

I think Sasha Luss has the most beautiful skin!

            Hillary Clinton recognises FITE

Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Our founder and fearless leader, Jane Wurwand, launched the global initiative joinFITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) at the 2010 CGI annual meeting. Dermalogica made a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to help fund 25,000 women start or grow a business. Now in 2014, we have succeeded in doubling our commitment and funding over 50,000 female entrepreneurs.

This year, the new focus of the FITE initiative is to fund future entrepreneurs into our industry, the skin care industry, which puts more women into their own business than any other.

Jane was invited to take part in this year’s CGI annual meeting to introduce this new phase of FITE. See her introduction by former U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton – who absolutely LOVES the idea!

                popsugar.com.au

What’s the one beauty product that’s always in your handbag?

I’m obsessed with lip products. I have everything from balms to glosses and matte lipsticks. These days it’s more about the balms, I seem to have about five in each handbag, you know, just in case!

Your no. 1 skin concern and how you manage it?

Breakouts and texture. It just seems unfair that when you’re starting to see the first signs of ageing with some fine lines popping up, and yet there are still pimples too! I try to keep my skincare routine as simple as possible – which can be very tricky when you’re trying new products all the time – but to get some balance I try to make sure I treat myself to regular facials, I really like gentle glycolic, enzyme or mandelic formulas.

Tell us about your skin care regime?

It varies so much, it’s part of the job description, but I try to keep it as simple as possible. I always tend to lean towards non-fragranced and more natural based formulas if I can. My new love is face oils, for cleansing, for nourishing, for pressing on top of makeup after a long day. They’re so nourishing, especially in winter.

                Favourite Dermalogica product and why?

I love the Daily Microfoliant. It’s such an old favourite, something I always have in my beauty cupboard as it really helps to get rid of any dead and dulling skin cells and leaves my face feeling so soft. I really like how you can change the texture just by how much water you add depending on what your skin needs that day.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

To “dress for the job you want.” I think this is really true in all aspects of your life, if you present yourself a certain way people often respond to that. It’s almost like a ‘fake it before you make it’ kind of philosophy, and I think more often than not, it works.

One quick trick that instantly lifts your mood?

Candles. I love to get home after a long day and light a couple of candles, the scent and the light is really comforting.

What’s the one beauty product that’s always in your handbag?

                  Lip balm!

Your no. 1 skin concern and how you manage it?

Breakouts, but I nab those with the Special Clearing Booster.

Tell us about your skin care regime?

I wash my face with Special Cleansing Gel every morning and night, followed by moisturiser. When I am in the car on the way to work, I also add a layer of tinted moisturiser for the day.

                  Favourite Dermalogica product and why?

PreCleanse Wipes, these are fantastic when you are on the go or low on time.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Sleep with your hair up and change pillowcases regularly. This helps reduce the chances of pores getting clogged, something I was told as a teen that stuck with me.

One quick trick that instantly lifts your mood?

                  Eye repair/serum. Works every time!

                    treating sensitivity

Dual international sportswoman, Ellyse Perry spends much of her time training and competing outdoors. As a result, her primary skin concerns include sun protection, dehydration and sensitivity. Following her Face Mapping skin analysis, Ellyse was prescribed these products to keep her skin healthy and protected:

                    UltraCalming Mist

To treat Ellyse’s dehydration and sensitivity (especially when she’s training or flying), a facial mist is recommended. This will help to hydrate, even out porosity and prep her skin for moisturiser. It’s also great to keep handy in her gym bag to spritz on after training and top up her moisture levels. This particular option is ideal for sensitised skin as it soothes, cools and is free from artificial fragrances and colours.

                    Daily Microfoliant

A light daily exfoliation is recommended to treat dehydration, stimulate skin cell renewal, brighten Ellyse’s complexion and relieve clogged pores. It will also help her moisturiser to penetrate more deeply.

                    Protection 50 Sport SPF50

Ellyse needs to apply her sunscreen all over when she’s outside training and competing. This sheer solar protection treatment defends against prolonged skin damage from UV light. Oleosome microspheres help enhance SPF performance and counteract moisture loss triggered by extended daylight exposure.

                    Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30

A broad-spectrum sunscreen helps guard against UV damage. The soothing antioxidants in this formula free from artificial fragrances and colours are perfect for Ellyse’s sensitised skin.

                    Watch Ellyse’s Face Mapping below!
